Aura
Versatile Jekyll theme for content creators, writers, and developers. Blog, projects, testimonials, and contact — all GitHub Pages compatible.
About this Theme
Aura is a clean, versatile Jekyll theme built for people who want more than a simple blog. Forked from CloudCannon’s Vonge template and reworked for full GitHub Pages compatibility, it packs a surprising number of features into a lightweight, easy-to-customise package.
The homepage is section-based — a hero area, a projects showcase, a blog feed, and testimonials all stack naturally, letting you present yourself as both a writer and a maker without fighting the theme. Each section is independently optional, so a pure blogger can strip it back, while a developer-portfolio owner can lean into the projects and testimonials sections.
Post pages are well considered: table of contents, reading time, FAQ blocks, image gallery, and YouTube embeds are all available out of the box without plugins — keeping everything compatible with GitHub Pages free hosting.
Third-party integrations (Formspree, MailChimp, Disqus, Google Analytics) are wired in through _config.yml keys, so there’s no template hacking required. The mobile experience is solid throughout.
Who is it for? Developers, writers, and freelancers who want a polished personal site with a blog, a projects section, and a contact form — all hosted free on GitHub Pages.
